From royal weddings to star-studded events and intimate parties, Stephanie has collaborated with hundreds of discerning individuals and brands from around the world. Whatever the form, her work puts a fine art twist on traditional calligraphy.
Stephanie combines a respect for foundations with a rule-breaking spirit to create one-of-a-kind pieces. With an evocative mix drawing from 17th & 18th century manuscripts, 19th and 20th century decorative arts, new wave, goth music, and fashion, Stephanie's hand is as comfortable with a vintage nib as it is with a brush. She employs a variety of strokes, inks, papers, botanicals and textiles to render words and illustrations that embody a classic sensibility that is slightly off kilter, embracing the beauty of imperfection within perfection, in each name, letter, or flourish.
Stephanie earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University, the top public art school in the United States. After purchasing calligraphy tools at a small shop in Paris, her creative focus shifted towards pen and ink. Stephanie has studied calligraphy with a number of prestigious instructors, including Chief White House Calligrapher Pat Blair and artist Rosamond Casey.
Today, Stephanie has over a decade of experience working in design and studio arts and is a member of IAMPTH, the oldest and largest penmanship organization, dedicated to practicing and preserving the beautiful arts of calligraphy and fine penmanship. She lives in Charlottesville, Virginia with her husband and son, working out of a studio on their property.
